I have been skimming through news articles to do with the theatre world and have found a headline most disturbing: The Nazis couldn't close it ... now feminists have! What they are referring to is The Windmill Theatre in SoHo, born in 1932, the theatre introduced nudity on stage for the first time in British, it was revolutionary in it's day and was ever more famous by the Film 'Mrs Henderson Presents' starring Judi Dench. The film was fun, and I really enjoyed it.
From what I understand, the now strip club has had it's licence revoked due to breaching no touching rules. A womens rights group had reported on many occasions that the dancers were breaking the rules and after sending a private investigator it was confirmed that was the case and the council revoked it's licence. Rules were broken and the price is being paid. Fair? I think so.
So what's with the headline? It's completely misleading and from what I can tell, comparing Feminism to Nazis.. It's disgusting and does not reflect the actual story, lazy reporting and inciting people to be antifeminist which is not helpful. We need feminism and people who say we don't, truly have no comprehension of what it means.
